Even when WTM is visible (and forcedly on top of any other windows), the task bar normally rises properly. I started getting it a lot recently and was getting really fed up. I am unable to directly reproduce this behavior so far. I'm running Windows XP on this laptop.

That bit of time with it in Auto-Hide is amazing. I hope Microsoft can look into this issue as it's a very noticeable and annoying defect. This problem is even worse when combined with Windows 7’s ability to hide system tray icons. And if you can't see them they can't be closed.
For me the taskbar gets stuck in some known circumstances: in Firefox, the task bar sometimes won’t hide until I pass the cursor over the Downloads window. I can't seem to customise browser options.
